Homemade Pasta Made Easy: Learn to Make Spaghetti, Fettuccine, and Ravioli

Making pasta from scratch is a fun and rewarding experience that anyone can enjoy. While it may seem intimidating at first, the process is actually quite simple and requires just a few ingredients. In this blog post, we’ll teach you how to make several types of pasta, including spaghetti, fettuccine, and ravioli.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil (optional)

Equipment:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Rolling pin
  • Pasta machine (optional)

Spaghetti:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
  2. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and crack the eggs into the well.
  3. Use a fork to gradually mix the eggs and flour until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  6. Divide the dough into four portions and use a rolling pin or pasta machine to roll out each portion to your desired thickness.
  7. Cut the pasta into thin strips using a pasta cutter or knife.
  8. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti for 2-3 minutes or until al dente.

Fettuccine:

  1. Follow the same steps as above for making the dough.
  2. Roll out the dough into thin sheets using a rolling pin or pasta machine.
  3. Use a pasta cutter or knife to cut the dough into wide strips.
  4. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the fettuccine for 2-3 minutes or until al dente.

Ravioli:

  1. Follow the same steps as above for making the dough.
  2. Roll out the dough into thin sheets using a rolling pin or pasta machine.
  3. Use a ravioli cutter or a glass to cut out circles of dough.
  4. Place a spoonful of your desired filling (such as cheese, spinach, or meat) onto one circle of dough.
  5. Place another circle of dough on top and use a fork to press the edges together, sealing the filling inside.
  6. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the ravioli for 3-4 minutes or until al dente.
