Boston Cream Pie Recipe: A Classic Dessert Made Easy

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar

  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 2/3 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups heavy cream

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream


Yellow Cake

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased 9-inch (23 cm) light-colored cake pan.

Vanilla Pudding

  4. Reduce the heat and continue to cook, whisking, for an additional 2 minutes.
  5. Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Pour the pudding into a large bowl and cover the surface with plastic wrap to prevent a skin from forming.
  7. Chill the pudding in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.

Chocolate Glaze

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt the chocolate, butter and heavy cream over low heat.
  2. Stir until smooth and well combined.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
