Rostbratwurst

Rostbratwurst, also known as grilled bratwurst, is a traditional German sausage made from pork and beef. The sausage is seasoned with a blend of spices, including ginger, nutmeg, and caraway, and is traditionally grilled over an open flame.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb pork and beef ground meat
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp ground allspice
  • 1/4 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/4 tsp ground mace
  • 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • Natural hog or sheep casings

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, salt, and spices. Mix well.
  2. Using a sausage stuffer or a meat grinder with a sausage stuffing attachment, fill the casings with the meat mixture.
  3. Twist the sausages every 4 inches to form individual sausages.
  4. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  5. Grill the sausages for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
  6. Serve on a bun with mustard or sauerkraut and enjoy!
