Grilled Tofu with Peanut Sauce

Grilled Tofu with Peanut Sauce is a delicious and easy-to-make vegan dish that is perfect for a summer barbecue or a weeknight dinner. The dish consists of marinated and grilled tofu that is served with a rich and creamy peanut sauce. The peanut sauce is made with peanut butter, soy sauce, lime juice, and spices, making it a flavorful and satisfying dish.

Ingredients:

  • 1 block of firm tofu
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons of sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons of grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes

Peanut Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup of peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup of soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon of grated ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 cup of water

Instructions:

  1. Drain the tofu and press it to remove any excess water. Cut the tofu into 1/2 inch slices.
  2. In a shallow dish, combine the minced garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, grated ginger, sugar, and red pepper flakes. Add the tofu slices and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. While the tofu marinates, make the peanut sauce by combining the peanut butter, soy sauce, lime juice, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, cayenne pepper, and water in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce is smooth and heated through.
  4. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Grill the tofu slices for 3-4 minutes per side, or until grill marks appear.
  5. Serve the grilled tofu with the peanut sauce on the side.
