Käsespätzle

Käsespätzle is a traditional German dish made by tossing cooked Spätzle with melted cheese and caramelized onions. This dish is a perfect comfort food, creamy, cheesy, and with a crispy texture. It can be served as a main course or a side dish, and it’s a great way to use leftover Spätzle.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of cooked Spätzle
  • 1 cup of grated cheese (Swiss, Emmental, or any cheese of your preference)
  • 1 onion, finely sliced
  • 2 tbsp of butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onions and sauté until golden brown and caramelized.
  3. Add the cooked Spätzle to the skillet and toss to combine with the caramelized onions.
  4. Sprinkle the grated cheese over the Spätzle and stir until the cheese is melted and the Spätzle is evenly coated.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve immediately and enjoy!
